We're thinking of going to Mullins for lunch and I'd also like to go to Harrison’s Cave to take the photo's I didn't get last time (5 years ago I didn't take my camera to the cave).
It's quite late by the time we leave and after taking the scenic tour through the country (roughly the reverse of Roberts route back yesterday) we eventually arrive in the vicinity of the Cave. Due to the dubious signage at the last roundabout we end up driving about a mile down the wrong exit. We turned around and headed back. Back at the roundabout we noticed a signpost that had been plucked of all it's leaves! The next exit goes just a hundred yards before the entrance to our destination makes itself obvious. It's been a bit rainy on the way here and we decide to skip Mullins and just do the cave.
We purchased our tickets and are told we should only have to wait 10 or fifteen 15 minutes for our tour. From experience here you take any timing with a pinch of salt but it's gives us time to get a drink and some crisps.
Before the trip down into the caves on an battery powered road train, there's a short modern multiple slide projector presentation. It tells the history of Barbados from a geological prospective. It's quite interesting and increases the anticipation for the imminent tour. It's just a bit of a shame that the people running proceedings aren't a bit more "user friendly". The don't greet you, explain anything about the tour ahead or even sound like they have an ounce of enthusiasm. This is a long way from Disney folks!
That little problem aside, we board the tour vehicle and start our decent. Our tour guide announces her name and starts informing us about how the cave was discovered. This woman is quite amusing but not by any effort on her own part. I have never heard such an strange accent. We have no idea where it came from but suspect there's probably Scandinavian, Russian, American and others in there. Anyway, it doesn't detract from the spectacle before us too much.
The cave is fantastic and I hope the pictures I've taken do it some sort of justice. Some of them are taken with the flash, others were very long exposures (30 seconds). It was tricky trying to stop people walking in front of the camera during some of the pictures but it didn't do any harm.
Back on the surface, it looks like it may have rained again. We don't hang around and are soon driving again. We decide to look for food and maybe try and bump into Ted's Wednesday tour. We drive for miles trying to locate the last stop we made but several attempts end in vain and we head back "home".
It's been quite a long day, driving and we haven't eaten since breakfast. We decide to go to the supermarket and buy something to eat back at the apartment.
Cheese on toast with mango chutney and a cup of tea. Not bad.
We both went to bed after that, Janice dozed and I read my book. We decided not to go out to dinner tonight.

Not a drop! Either of us!
