We had breakfast at Flindt across the road.
Some confusion about Janice’s request for a second round toast results in two orders turning up - no extra charge!
Next we went back to the room to tidy up before the official check out time and then onto the beach bar to say our good byes.
It was quite sad and I must confess I had a tear in my eye, which Janice pointed out to Ricky and Robert. I think she was just trying to divert attention from herself as she had already gone into a full blub!
I gave Ricky a bar towel from The Hogs Back Brewery, he gave me a polo shirt from the Sandy Beach Hotel! We handed over some left over provisions in case anyone could use them, I hate throwing anything away.
We finally said goodbye and headed back to the room, the luggage was collected and we boarded the coach. I can't tell you how sad we felt but I'm sure everyone knows the feeling.
I made use of my airport lounge pass again and we had some drinks, read the paper and watched some TV. CNN was covering the war in Iraq, something I'd been trying to avoid. It accelerates the process of returning to reality after visiting "paradise".
I had a shower and changed into the clothes I intended to wear back on the plane. A bit of last minute duty free shopping and we before we knew it we were on the plane. Due to "the amount of time it took for the plane to be cleaned" we were delayed.
I think we must have been on the plane an hour before we took off and it was another hour before we were able to have a drink.
My Travel - if you are reading this, you stink! The first officer announced that with the following wind we should make up the time. Unbelievably, they seemed to be completely unaware that we are over an hour late on arrival. They even announce the time as GMT which makes us sound on time but of course we are on British Summer Time. These people are allowed to fly big heavy planes?! The cabin then staff announced the correct time with no apology.
We cleared customs quickly and I left Janice in the arrivals lounge to check the train times, we are in luck as train leaves for Blackwater in 10 minutes. On the way back we look and the countryside and compare it with the one we have just left. We're home.
Amazingly there is a cab waiting at Blackwater station and we jump straight in and are at Janice's home in no time. We dumped the cases in the house, fussed Simba excessively and then Janice moved her car so I could get mine out of the garage. I nipped to Safeway for milk, bread, tomatoes, bacon and wine (just the essentials)!
Back at Janices, a bacon sarny and a cup of char completes the transition back to normality.
Drinks tally:
4 banks, red wine, white wine, red white.
The stange looking fruit in the photo below is a cashew nut fruit. I'm not sure of it's real name. The picture before the plane is the life support machine in the apartment, also known as an airconditioner.
Until next time.....
